The executor, or under Florida statutes they use the term personal representative, is the individual that you choose in your will to represent your estate before the court. It's the personal representative's responsibility to choose the attorney to assist them in the process of opening the estate, once they're appointed by the court, to identify all of the assets that need to be administered, to make sure claims are satisfied, identify beneficiaries that you've named within your will, and then see to the distribution of assets among those beneficiaries. It's a very important role. You should choose somebody that you're confident can handle the responsibilities.
