After a client has created a trust through the estate planning attorney, it's necessary for the client to fund the trust and what that means is taking the steps necessary to transfer the assets from the client's individual name into the name of the trust. The goal there being to avoid probate on those assets. Without funding, the trust doesn't serve any purpose, so funding is an essential part of that process.
